    The Board Facilitative Committee (RIFC) has been established to ensure that the Board is kept informed of significant trends, including initiatives and publications, about facilitative DR, to provide information and recommendations to the Board about policy and strategic direction in facilitative DR, and to liaise with the CEO about developing operational areas of facilitative DR.

     

    The RIFC has established several specialist sub-committees to assist the committee to fulfil its functions in specific areas, and we are currently seeking expressions of interest from Resolution Institute members to join the following sub-committees:

    • Workplace mediation sub-committee
    • Elder mediation sub-committee
    • Facilitative family law and mediation sub-committee
    • Facilitative sub-committee

     

    Sub-committee members will be expected to attend meetings and actively contribute to projects and discussions on a regular basis.

     

    Members are encouraged to express interest from all Australian states and territories, and from Aotearoa New Zealand.

     

    The Workplace Mediation Sub-Committee, chaired by Fiona Bigelli, is seeking members to join the sub-committee.

    This sub-committee is in its formative phase and potential projects may include:

    • Reviewing legislation and regulatory frameworks relevant to workplace dispute resolution
    • Monitoring the developments and trends in workplace dispute resolution
    • Reviewing training, education and accreditation relevant to workplace dispute resolution professionals to support the delivery of high-quality services.
    • Exploring opportunities for increasing the use of mediation including; promotion, appropriate partnerships and relationships, and identifying areas for research
    • Considering responses to government inquiries, representing the membership
    • Assisting as requested to organise relevant events

     

    The Elder Mediation Sub Committee, chaired by Dale Bagshaw, is seeking members to join the sub-committee.

    Members are encouraged to join if you have accreditation (or are currently working towards accreditation) in Elder Mediation or have experience in working in a relevant area relating to elder mediation.

    The Family Law and Mediation Sub-Committee, chaired by Paula Bruce, is seeking members to join the sub-committee.

    It is preferred that members meet at least one of the following criteria and include this information on the attached application:

    • Minimum 5-years' experience in FDR, family law or closely related areas.
    • A special contribution to the development of family law responses eg. development of pilot projects; models of practice; research; senior roles.  
    • Special skills in models of family law such as child inclusive practice, financial and property settlements; working with violence; working with mental health issues or D&A,; supervision; management.
    • Special experience in broad areas of family law such as court officials; collaborative practitioners, legal aid representatives; university academics; supporting government departments officials such as Attorney General's or other.

     

    The Facilitative Sub-Committee, chaired by Chris Pitts, is seeking members to join the sub-committee.

    The Facilitative sub-committee is seeking to provide staff and the Board with a greater depth of experience and understanding of the issues facilitative mediators face through their career, whether they are fully independent, part of an organisation or government department or part independent/panel member of a government/NGO panel.  In summary, those that could address a broad range of issues facing facilitative mediation.
