Part 2 of the Mediator as a Conductor Series: The Narrative Symphony: SYNOPSIS

If a mediator is to be a conductor, then there has to be a repertoire of techniques, akin to symphonies and musical works by composers. I have chosen five repertoires or mediator skills and matched them to appropriate musical pieces to illustrate this concept. The starting piece will focus on Narrative Practice in mediation.

Follow on articles and musical pieces in the Mediator as Conductor series (parts 2-6)

    1.  The narrative symphony : Lord of the Rings (Stephen Oliver)3.  The neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) focus on the senses: The Ride of the Valkyries in Apocalypse Now
    2.  The Transactional Analysis (TA) trio: trio divertimento for violin,  cello and viola
    1.  The Emotional Intelligence (EQ) experience: The Organ Symphony (Saint-Saëns)
    1. The Compassion arrangement: "Piu Jesu" from Lloyd Webber's  Requiem sung by Sarah Brightman and Paul Miles-Kingston.

The Narrative Symphony applied to Mediation

Musical connection: My favourite narrative symphony is Stephen Oliver's The Lord of the Rings , commissioned by the BBC for its dramatisation of Tolkien's masterpiece.
